Dimmock Returns for Gippsland Rally

by Aug 15, 2023

James Dimmock is excited to return to the Australian Rally Championship for the Gippsland Rally in Victoria this month.

After a mechanical issue in the opening round and delays in replacement parts, the Canberran’s Toyota Yaris AP4 is now ready to go for the fourth round of the championship.

Following his time on the sidelines, Dimmock is keen to get back into the competition at an event he really enjoys.

“I’m really looking forward to the Gippsland Rally and getting back into it,” said Dimmock.

“I did the event last year in the two-wheel-drive Fiesta and really enjoyed it.”

“This year’s route is very similar to last year. Saturday is going to be fun!”

“The roads are fast and technical. It gives you a really good feeling when you get it right.”

Continuing his ambitions from the start of the year, the 27-year-old’s first in outright ARC competition, the goal for the Gippsland Rally is to continue to develop, learn the new car and build repour with 2023 co-driver Larisa Biggar.

“The goal for this one is to finish,” Dimmock continued.

“We’ve only done 30 competitive kilometres in the car, so we’ll take the opportunity to build into it and progress over the weekend.”

“It was a good event for us last year in the Fiesta, and with the stages very similar, I’ve got some great in-car footage to review leading into the event.”

“Obviously, the Yaris is going to be a different kettle of fish, but we’ll just chip away at it.”

Dimmock and Biggar will get a chance to test the Victorian roads in the AP4 Toyota Yaris in the lead-up to The Middle of Everywhere Gippsland Rally, 25-27 August.

James would like to take the opportunity to thank his partners for their continued support this year, in particular Trailer Camper Australia, Supreme Dry Cleaners, Brindabella Contractors, Simply Music Management and Silk Café.
