George Gutierrez ready to take on The Mountain – Press Release

by Oct 7, 2019

Plus IT backed South Australian racer George Gutierrez is ready to once again take on the most iconic race track in Australia, Mount Panorama.

Three months after the second round in Townsville, the Toyota 86 Racing Series will be back in action in support of the biggest race of the year, the Bathurst 1000.

While Gutierrez endured a difficult run last year in the Toyota series at Bathurst, the young driver will be looking to build on the positives results, well inside the top ten, from Townsville when racing gets back underway this weekend with a view to continue that momentum through a very busy end of the year for the one-make series.

“It’s been a big break between rounds for us. I actually sat in a race car yesterday for the first time in three months just to blow out the cobwebs and sharpen up the skills again to get ready for a big weekend at Mount Panorama.” said Gutierrez.

“Bathurst is one of those places I always look forward to going to. Even if it was to race a shopping trolley, I would be there. The opportunity to race at such an iconic venue is just so cool!”

“Last years races at Bathurst weren’t really the best for us, getting caught up in a Race 1 crash which put us on the back foot all weekend. But with all the positives coming out of the last round in Townsville, we’re hoping we can carry that momentum into this weekend and put last year well and truly behind us.”

The Toyota 86 Racing Series will be on track at Mount Panorama, Bathurst with two practice sessions on Thursday before qualifying and three races over the rest of the weekend. All the action will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, channel 506, as well as streamed online by Kayo Sports.
