What a way to wrap up the year! No doubt we’ll be talking about the inaugural Supercars Newcastle 500 well into 2018!

It’s very rare that we get to photograph a new track these days, let alone two in the space of a month. However, we were well up to the challenge of capturing the brand new street circuit around Newcastle.

A new track that no one has photographed before is exciting opportunity in itself. Add the backdrop of Newcastle’s beaches, harbour and historic buildings and we knew it was going to be pretty special. Not to mention throwing in a couple of championships that needed decided, and as it turned out, it was much bigger and better than we could have ever expected!

The Newcastle 500 was a very busy event for us, we had two photographers on the ground to capture our ever-growing list of customers amongst the Toyota 86 Racing Series, V8 Utes and Dunlop Super2 fields. We also had our hands full keeping Auto Action’s website and social media up to date with so many titles to be decided and breaking news about 2018. A very demanding, yet extremely rewarding event to wrap up the year.

But what we’re really proud of is our customers achievements… And not just the championships that were decided in Newcastle. Every single one of them.

That said a couple of honourable mentions need to go out. The first goes to Jimmy Vernon for claiming the Toyota 86 Racing Series title. Seven of our customers finished the year in the top ten in the one make Toyota series alone. Also Mick Sieders for his fourth place finish in the V8 Utes in his rookie year.

Also a shout out needs to go out to Anton De Pasquale. We’ve supplied him with photos since his Formula Ford days, and it’s fantastic to see him get a drive with Erebus Motorsport in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship next year. We’re really looking forward seeing him on the grid at the Adelaide 500 next year.

Here’s a collection of some of our favourite photos from Supercars action in Newcastle. We’ve also shared some favourites from the support categories as well as our customers galleries on our Facebook Page, if you’d like to check those out. Also make sure you follow us on our FacebookInstagram or Twitter for more photos from upcoming events.

The Newcastle 500 was our final motorsport event of 2017. We’ve now got a long wait until the Bathurst 12 Hour in the February. Get in touch to if you’d like discuss our motorsport media services for the 2018 season.
